A five-meter robot dances with aerial acrobats in Recirquel’s new production

The creators behind the set design of Dune built the spectacular robot of Walk My World.

A five-meter-tall, custom-designed robot that collaborates with performers, executes millimeter-precise movements, dances, functions as a circus prop, and even transforms into a light-based weapon, arrived in June at Millenáris for the immersive production Walk My World.

Budapest is among the first places in the world to showcase an aerial acrobatic act featuring a performer interacting with a robot. The robot, which portrays the Trojan Horse in the show, was built by Prop Factory Studio, known for contributing to the set design of major Hollywood blockbusters such as Dune: Part Two, Blade Runner 2049, and The Martian. Capable of both wild and delicately sensual movements, this structure will also feature in aerial acrobatic scenes in the monumental production premiering this November.

The creators transformed a high-performance, high-precision programmable robot—commonly used in car factories—into a massive, awe-inspiring creature. This mechanical beast, representing the Trojan Horse in the production’s battle scene, is capable of both wild and finely tuned, sensual movements. This versatility allows it to function as a circus prop and perform an aerial duet with acrobats.

But how does a robot fit into an ancient mythological story?
Walk My World brings to life a mythological narrative based on Virgil’s epic in a timeless world that feels both retro and futuristic. While the myth unfolds through familiar symbols and characters—such as labyrinths, oracles, the Minotaur, and gods—the grandiose stage design evokes the rich object culture of the 20th century and ventures into the realm of sci-fi.

In addition to the robot, the show features a variety of extraordinary structures within its highly detailed set, which consists of forty distinct spaces and over ten thousand props. These include a massive throne bathed in light; a cave built from giant tanks featuring a rotating stage; a bed and table that rise from the ground; and a control panel crafted from the electronics of an old airplane. The audience experiences all this up close, freely exploring the performance spaces and even touching the props. Every scene unfolds within arm’s reach, allowing spectators to observe the artists intimately over the course of the two-and-a-half-hour production while freely wandering through the 6,000-square-meter venue.

The enthralling universe of Walk My World will open to the public at the Millenáris Building B (Nagycsarnok) in November 2025. Tickets available on the production’s official website.

The immersive production is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Innovation of Hungary, MOL-New Europe Foundation, Millenáris Scientific Cultural Foundation, MVM Zrt., Szerencsejáték Zrt., Indotek Group, and Kardirex Health Center.
